Studio Bio
D7 Studios, Inc. specializes in creating 2D and 3D animated content for visual media. This includes film, television, video games, and the internet. The studio was founded in February 2002, by Arik Renee Avila and Tony Hobdy to create and distribute the studio’s first project, D7Peacemaker™: Stage 1. In May of that year, the studio released Stage 1 as a two disc package containing a 38 minute feature with some extras (in both NTSC and PAL formats!), and a 74 minute CD soundtrack. The feature, done in our animated comic or completed storyline animatic format, premiered at the third largest anime convention in the US, A-kon. After filling the theater, two encore performances had to be arranged, and over 200 DVDs were pre-sold at the event. The film was also featured at the 2002 Austin Film Festival and several other smaller venues. After seeing the interest in the first project, the studio used the film as a demonstration of its capabilities. The team then proceeded to work on its D7Peacemaker™ feature film series while at the same time pursuing client projects.
Over the past three years, the studio has provided a range of services to various clients, including most recently for the award winning advertising agency Berlin-Cameron/Red Cell of the WPP Group. The project was to complete a 60 second animated film to run during the Daytona 500 for the internationally recognized brands of Coca Cola and NASCAR. The commercial debuted in theaters across the US, with plans to be shown on television afterwards. Working on this project allowed the studio to successfully demonstrate its production plan for the feature film but on a scale of 60 seconds instead of 90 minutes. This capability, refined over three years of work, created a quality animated project on time and on budget.
Currently, the studio has begun pre-production on its next animated feature, D7Peacemaker™: Prodigal Child, a 3D animated film set for theatrical release. In addition to film projects, the studio continues to seek out and complete animated projects for clients looking to appeal to the growing audience for sophisticated animation.
